What should pool water levels be?
For a residential chlorine pool: free chlorine 1–3 ppm, pH 7.2–7.6, total alkalinity 80–120 ppm, and stabiliser (cyanuric acid) ideally 30–50 ppm. In Dubai’s sun, chlorine at the higher end of the range with adequate stabiliser is needed to maintain protection between visits.
Why is my pool cloudy even though I add chlorine?
The usual culprits are high pH (which makes chlorine ineffective), very high stabiliser locking the chlorine up, or a filter that needs cleaning. A proper test identifies which one it is — adding more chlorine blindly often makes the problem worse.
